Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds characters
Game description
MvC3 : Fate of Two Worlds is a beat-em-up game developed and published by Capcom under the guidance of Ryota Niitsuma, the same Ryota Niitsuma that directed all the other vs Capcom games. This is the 5th game pitting the biggest stars from Capcom against Marvel’s superheroes, following X-Men vs Street Fighter (1996), Marvel Superheroes vs Street Fighter(1997), MvC and MVC2(1999 and 2000) . All the power and spirit of this prestigious team distilled and reinterpreted again is still a rare treat. It starts from the first seconds with one of the most beautiful cinematic genre that was ever seen. The pace, style, atmosphere, colors, everything is in order to impress. A real little animated comic.
Ryota Niitsuma, the game producer, announced the differences from the previous episode (Marvel Vs Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes) – the game speed has been reduced to make the game more accessible to beginners and special moves have been simplified to be easier to use. The atmosphere has also been redesigned, it is darker than the previous episode to make it look more realistic or closer to the atmosphere of the comics.
Game Features
- Fierce fighting. Dynamic combat system allows you to easily perform multi-combo and conduct violent attacks. Throwing the enemy fighters in the air and caming down on him with barrage, you apply a crushing power. Variety of tactics and high-speed battles allow to be considered as a fighting game genre of a new level.
- Wall to wall. The unique system of supported attacks (Assisted Attacks) allows each player to pick his own dream team of three characters to battle 3-for-3 and choose a special fighters attacks that they will apply in combat.
- To help beginners. A simplified control scheme allows beginners without a long training to perform the most complex combos and tricks that are easy for an experienced players .
- Revived comics. Use of Technology MT Framework like in Resident Evil 5 and Lost Planet 2, is responsible for the bright and colorful visual style in which the latest 3D-graphics are combined with classic features of 2D-fighting games.
- All-Stars. In addition to the familiar characters – Ryu, Wolverine, Morrigan, Hulk and many others some of not less famous debutants introduced . Among them are Chris Redfild, Trish, Thor, Amaterasu, as well as the mutant Deadpool, poludemon Dante and many others.
MvC3 as a product shows us how the good people at Marvel and Capcom have gone crazy and decided to throw in the arena all the best popular from their games. The player is offered nearly all the most famous characters from the series of two companies to choose from, ranging from the wolf Amaterasu from Okami to Spenser of Bionic Comando. There is no any division into groups, each figther is free to choose 3 members of his team. As for game modes, there are not so many. Actually there is only two of them – just Arcade (offline) and Versus (Online and 2 player offline). Still, the diverese character roster makes up for that because both companies let their less popular stars shine as well – such as the cult favorite Merc with a Mouth – Deadpool.
Let’s start with the Arcade Mode – it tells us the story of this episode: Doctor Doom (Fantastic Four), along with Wesker (Resident Evil) come together to merge the different universes and to establish power there. But as in any self-respecting superhero saga, there are those who oppose and those who are in favor of the plan, as superheroes and supervillains, animals, mutants, demons and evil spirits rush into the battle and try to kick each other asses. In general, Arcade mode contains nothing special and only good for users who do not have a second joystick or a connection to the Internet. Versus and Online modes are similar and are more interesting than the Arcade.
MvC3′s roster isn’t as big as its predecessor’s, but much more diverse, as every character plays very differently from others. There are several newcomers, a lot of which are underdogs in terms of popularity, such as
Deadpool – The Merc with A Mouth a.k.a the Regenerating Degenerate, Wade Wilson is a humorously psychotic antihero from the Marvel universe. Famous for breaking the 4th wall, one of his moves involves beating an opponent senseless with their own health bar.
Albert Wesker and Chris Redfield – the long time protagonist and antagonist from Resident Evil appear as their Resident Evil 5 incarnation, retaining their appearance as well as fighting styles – Redfield relies on his guns and steroids, while Wesker still looks and fights like a Matrix fanboy.
MODOK – Marvel’s Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing uses his psionic powers to overcome his foes.
She-Hulk – The cousin of Bruce Banner (The Hulk) posesses the same powers as he does, but without the mental drawbacks
Taskmaster – Tony Masters is a mercenary from the Marvel universe, capable of mimicking his opponents’ moves
Thanos – the god-like supermutant from the Marvel universe.
Thor – Marvel’s God of Thunder is the lightning master, but is still unique despite Storm’s presence
Dormammu – a mystical being who is essentially a very powerful black mage
Super-Skrull – an alien from the Marvel universe who possesses all the combined powers of the Fantastic Four, as well as
x-23 – a female with powers similar to Wolverine
Nathan Spencer – the protagonist of Bionic Commando uses his bionic arm and boots, taking his strength to superhuman levels
Hsien-Ko – a Chinese zombie/ghost from Darkstalkers, with all the powers which that entails
Dante and Trish – from Devil May Cry, Trish brings her superhuman strength and lightning powers, while Dante brings his sheer badassery
Mike Haggar – the former pro-wrestler from Final Fight.
Arthur – after making it through one of the most difficlt games ever made (Ghosts ‘n Goblins), Sir Arthur is a serious contender against anyone either side could muster.
Zero – a new representative of Capcom’s MegaMan series
Amaterasu – the Wolf deity from Okami brings her unique powers to MvC3
Resident Evil 5 Jill Valentine – Jill Valentine has been reimagined as her Resident Evil 5 version. She wears the same wetsuit and relies on her guns and acrobatics, making her the fastest ranged combatant in the game, according to Seth Killian.
Crimson Viper – with her stealth suit and secret agent training
Viewiful Joe – with superhero powers to match anybody from Marvel
The Ultimate version of the game will include new characters previously planned as downloadable content. The Marvel side will be joined by magician Dr. Strange, ghost writer with this big chain and heat resistanance, the master archer Hawkeye, the martial arts expert Iron Fist, the master of gravity Nova and Rocket Racoon, StarFox’s long-lost cousin. newcomers to the Capcom side include Firebrand from ghosts and goblins, the zombie killing reporter Frank West from Dead Rising, the menacing mutant Nemesis from Resident Evil 3, the loud finger-pointing Ace Attorney Phoenix Wright accompanied by his rival prosecutor Miles Edgeworth as a cameo, Strider Hiryu from the Nintendo classic Strider and Dante’s twin brother Vergil.
Despite the diversity of newcomers, a lot of the fan favorites from the past are still around. A Marvel fanservice game just isn’t a Marvel game without Spider – Man, Wolverine and Iron – Man. Likewise, a Capcom all-star game just cannot work without Ryu, Chun-Li and Akuma.
The graphics have been completely revamped, using the Resident Evil 5 MT Framework engine. At least that’s what Capcom says, because the resemblances to Resident Evil 5 , other than the characters, are few if any. That’s a compliment towards Capcom – most of us played the crap out of Resident Evil 5 and it’s amazing how Capcom could come up with something so different using the same engine. The graphics stay true to Marvel’s comic book nature with plenty of bright colors, while less comic book-like characters such as the Resident Evil crew still look right at home. Even though more Japanese Manga type characters such as Ryu, Zero and Tron are much harder to translate into this kind of graphic style, Capcom did an amazing job. The levels from the different games make appearances as well – the haunted forest from Ghost s ‘n Goblins, Metro City from Final Fight , the licker infested Umbrella lab from Resident Evil 5 and many more.
Here’s what the critics are saying
“MvC3 is the same crazy, over-the-top fighting game that fans loved back in 2000, just with a fresh control scheme and a new coat of 3D, hi-res paint. Fighting game fans will fall in love with the “easy to play, hard to master” format.”
“MvC3 is the best fighting game that I have ever played… and I have played a LOT of fighting games in my gaming life. The character rosters is diverse, the gameplay is frantic yet deep, and the game offers you a wide variety of modes that keep you coming back for more. Move over MvC2, there is a new king in town.”
“Far more than just a fun novelty. It’s backed by a pure, serious fighting game engine and it manages to deliver on all levels. It’s fun, approachable by the novice, works with any number of players from solo through online to a local party environment and has incredible depth.”
